Steps made from a very weak concrete mixture (not much cement).

A wooden former in the shape of a catenary arch has been constructed and used to make the firebox arch. It has then been moved into position to support a second section of the kiln.





The gap in the brickwork is where the front fibre lid sits. Note the drain under the kiln. This is a necessity in rainforest country. We once had 8 inches of rain between hours 24 and 30 of a firing.
