Peter Thompson: location

When I first met Peter he was making a living building houses from recycled materials and one of his constructions is his own house shown at left. The location of his establishment, adjacent to thick rainforest, led him to an interest in the local rainforest residents as seen below.

The Red Legged Pademelon (Thylogale stigmatica) emerges from the rainforest to feed at dusk and at night, although individuals can be seen around Peter's place during the day. This one has a youngster re-entering her marsupial pouch and its long legs have not yet been arranged properly. Domestic dogs are death to gentle creatures like this and  although the photo at left was taken in 1988 the ban on dogs is still in force.
